Hallie Jo's Story
Life
Hi Ya'All. I'm still married to the guy I married in my senior year and we have 3 kids. Oldest (Nila) is 31 and graduated from BYU with straight A's. She is teaching theatre
to kindergarten thru 8th grade right now. Middle one(Bret) is doing sound and lighting design for theaters all around the Valley and is 28. Youngest (Blair) is 26, married and has a one year old son. He is going to college in Rexburg, Idaho. We had a stillborn son and it still tugs at my heart. We lived in Little Rock, AR for six years and hated every minute of it. I've lived in Phoenix for the past 30 some years. HOT in the summer but no cattle stench to stay down wind of(Clovis-Cattle Capital of the Southwest)Or freeze your tail off in the winter (Custer).
Life has handed me a couple of interesting hurdles to get over in the last little while. I have been diagnosed with fibermialgia, diabetes, High blood pressure, migraines, etc. If one don't get ya the other one will.
My husband (Gaylen) is retired from the VA Medical Center as an Audiologist.
School
I attended school in South Dakota until I was a Junior and then I moved to Clovis, New Mexico to finish my high school education. I was the first Mrs. to graduate as I married in February of my senior year. I went to Harrison Flats country school my first year. There were 6 students in the entire school. My second, third and part of fourth year I attended Custer elementary school. Middle o...Expand for more
f fourth I returned to Harrison Flats school. Fifth and sixth I went to Custer again. Part of seventh I attended in Custer. I then went to a school in the country around Jewel Cave. My eighth year I returned to Harrison Flats. My high school years I attended Custer High School until the middle of my junior year when I moved to Clovis and finished up there.
Workplace
I worked for the Air Force as a receptionist in the Judge Advocates Office at Cannon AFB in New Mexico. I have worked for the Army at Fort Douglas, UT as a Key Punch Operator. Then I worked for the VA Medical Center as a Clerk-Typist/Medical receptionist in Little Rock, Arkansas. I had the privilage of meeting all the veterans that came to the VAMC for outpatient services and answered all of the mail that came in also. My next position was at Fort Roots Medical Center in North Little Rock, Arkansas in the Pharmacy again as a clerk/typist and receptionist. Then we moved to Phoenix where I became a medical receptionist for an Opthamologist. I missed the money I could make at the VA so I went to work for the VA Regional Office as Transcriber/clerk-typist. I then took a position in Personnel at the VA Medical Center until that position expired. My next position was as a Medical secretary for the Surgical Department, where I worked until my first baby was born. I then took up motherhood and being a housewife which has been the most challenging job I have ever had.
